Hamilton Pairs Tournament held on the weekend

A big thank you to all the helpers who contributed to the success of this event. With three divisions - Open, Junior and a Novice section, there were over 130 players to organise and feed. From Karen, without whom the scoring would not take place so efficiently, the board dealing team who deal the small mountain of hands, to the members who contributed food towards the morning and afternoon teas (too many unknowns to mention anyone in particular, except for Jane who always contributes) to the members who gave their time preparing morning tea – Phil being the mainstay with his excellent scones, Julie and Mark preparing the lunches (very positive feedback and a good fundraiser) – and the afternoon tea stalwarts of Val, Tracey, Raewyn and Marion producing a very well received spread in spite of difficulties with equipment. To Gwynn who supervises the $$ and assists Tony and Joan who always helps out wherever she can. Thanks also to David for setting up all the computer and electronic equipment and Nigel and Mark who do all the little jobs that need attention throughout the day.

Without all of these people, our tournaments would not be the successful events they are known to be.
Well done all the helpers!

IAN CLAYTON IN TOP FORM

Ian Clayton currently is showing us all how the game should be played.
Ian ClaytonIan Clayton
On Friday, together with partner Linda Lin, they managed an outstanding (almost unheard of) 82.16%. Scores of over 70% are few and far between so Ian and Linda's achievement leaves us all in awe. Ian followed this up with an outstanding performance at the Billie Tolhill Pairs in Auckland over the weekend. Partnering Richard Solomon they finished top in their sections for both sessions, winning the tournament overall, with Jenny Millington and partner Steve Boughey finishing joint 2nd overall.
