Soup and Bun II

Soup bun 2 for 2020
The first Soup and Bun for 2020 has been held and we now look forward to the second of the 3 the Club is holding this year

So come along and join us on Sunday August 16th for this year's second event

Soup is served at 12 noon with bridge starting between 12.30 and 12.45pm. Cost is only $5

Congratulations to Allison & Malcolm Smith for coming out top at the first event

Didn't we do well !

Have you noticed the "shortage" of Open players & Grand Masters around the Club this last week ?
If you did and wondered where were they had gone the simple answer is the Gold Coast in Queensland playing bridge at the week long Gold Coast Congress. Results in the pairs were hard to come by but in the Teams members of the Club have done very well competing in a field of 212 Teams - you can read about it on this page from NZ Bridge Site

Click here to read about how NZers placed in the Teams

The NZ Bridge site doesn't mention all those from the Club playing - numerous other members are at the Congress and you can check their progress here

Junior Play - Techniques continued....

Improving Junior's play technique

Barry Jones hosts the second lesson in this series on Friday September 14th in the Richmond room

This lesson "Leads & Signals" follows on from July and is aimed at our Junior Members with the view to help improve their bridge playing. The evening will feature a discussion on these subjects followed by playing pre-dealt hands followed by a discussion on the play

Directing

Have an interest in directing or becoming a director ?
A free directing seminar organised by the WBRC with National Director Allan Joseph is only two weeks away - Saturday February 3 or Sunday February 4. Please register if you wish to attend either in Rotorua on the Saturday or Cambridge on Sunday. We need to know numbers for catering and copying of material purposes.

Need to know more then read the Waikato Bays Seminar Flyer for the event and to register then click here to confirm your day

Hamilton Restricted Tournament

On Sunday April 2 Hamilton hosts the Hamilton Restricted, an 8B tournament which is open to Pairs in any combination EXCEPT Open – Open players. The tournament is sponsored by URGE Tea & Coffee Boutique which is letting the Club offer an extended prize list due to this generous sponsorship. Prizes are waiting for the top pairs in each of the possible combinations – Junior/Open, Intermediate/Junior, Intermediate/Intermediate, Intermediate/Open & Junior/Junior along with usual top NS, EW & Overall so there are multiple ways to win a prize

Jane is again providing one of her excellent lunches so for $25 it’s a great day out with 2 sessions of bridge as a bonus !
