  • maybe some of our club’s top players will be representing NZ in the Mixed Teams section
  • trials will be held at the Orewa Bridge Club on 10 & 11th November
  • 4 mixed teams play off to decide the 6 players to go to China....

36 Pairs contested the 2018 Hamilton Congress Pairs. After three sessions we had our winners......

20 pairs entered the Hamilton Congress Intermediate Pairs contesting two sessions....

24 teams competed in the qualifying with the top 6 teams going on to the finals on Monday. Top qualifiers were the Carter team followed by the Cormack and Ware Teams.
In the W/B Consolation Swiss Pairs 40 pairs contested the event while the top 6 teams contested the W/B Teams final

Two of our Club members Mark Thomson & Jeffrey Chang excelled in the NZ Bridge Congress which just concluded by winning the Restricted Swiss Pairs

With an 8-0-1 winning record Mark & Jeffrey won by the event by an generous 11.7 VPs in the 54 pair field

2018 NZ Bridge National Congress - Day 4......

Day 4 of the Congress was the start of the NZ Teams. 108 Teams, some with up to 6 members are taking part this year. After 2 days of qualifying 3 Teams with Hamilton players are in the top 16. These top 16 teams now compete with the winners advancing via the quarters and semi's to the finals on Friday / Saturday

Commiserations to the Morgan team with Hamilton's Ella Gray & Michael Neels who missed qualifying by 1.43 VPs

2018 NZ Bridge National Congress - Days 1...3

A record number of players (close to 700!) are now in Hamilton taking part in the NZ Bridge Congress. The Congress which attracts the best players from around New Zealand along with players from Australia is being held at the Distinction Hotel in Te Rapa.
One of the premier events the New Zealand Pairs has now reached the Finals stage and concludes Monday evening. The top 28 pairs from the qualifying will battle for national honours with the next 28 pairs competing in the plate final

In the running from the Hamilton club are Barry Jones and Jenny Millington (qualified in 7th place) and Blair Fisher (with George Masters qualified in 16th place).

Swiss Results

There have been 2 different sets of results for the Waikato Bays Swiss Tournament on our web site which was caused by an issue with the Scoring PC. The results now available on the Results Page are the correct version. We are sorry for any concerns we caused the players as a result of this problem
