Table Money Increase

The Committee of the Hamilton Bridge Club finds it necessary to increase the table money from December. This has been forced upon us by the increasing maintenance requirements of a 60 year old building ( our Club-rooms ) which has in the past needed and has had little maintenance, resulting in low running costs

This situation is unfortunately changing with the roof becoming an expensive repair item - we are forced into painting the roof to eke out a few additional years before the roof will need to be replaced. The roof painting is estimated to cost in excess of $15K and will hopefully delay the replacement of the roof which will likely be well over $50K

While we hope to offset some of these costs with a grant, the first requirement of a grant application is to show that the applicant is helping themselves. Grants take time to apply for and for the results to be known. The state of the roof is such that we would like to action the repair before next winter

In addition this year there have been ongoing issues with both the storm water and sewage which have necessitated expensive repairs. The other big ticket items in the medium term are replacing the carpet in the playing rooms, painting of the mens and ladies toilets and the maintenance or replacement of the heating system in the O'Neill room.

Together with the general rise in costs since the last increase in 2012 the committee finds it necessary to increase the table money to $4 per session. This increase will take place after the end of regular bridge this year and will apply to summer bridge
