Club Fund raiser at Hamilton Playbox Club Fund raiser at Hamilton Playbox Club Fund raiser at Hamilton Playbox

The Club and Hamilton Playbox combined in a fund raiser which benefited both parties
The Club "provided the audience" ( we sold virtually 100% the tickets ) and then split the income between the two parties which resulted in the club being better off by around $3000
Response from our members was overwhelming positive so if opportunity arises again we will likely repeat the event
One of our members provided these photos of the event so enjoy....

Hamilton Congress - Labour Weekend 2025

OUR HELPERS......

2nd place at Hamilton Bridge's Congress Pairs Tournament 3rd place at Hamilton Bridge's Congress Pairs Tournament

     Richard , Gwyn & Jennifer                 Tim , Hugh , Roz , Laura & Jenny

Congratulations to the Winners at Hamilton 2025

Déjà vu - The numbers who took part in the three events held over the weekend were almost identical ( within one pair or team ) to those who played in the same events last year. Different winners, different names but a good weekend of bridge.
Unfortunately the weekend differed from last year with the non playing of the Restricted Pairs events - the numbers taking part in the past made it not economical to run. Sponsors are hard to find in the current climate and with the the Club not having one this year it becomes a challenge to run a weekend event without incurring a loss. So we need to see all those who played back in a years time for the next Hamilton Congress. Thanks to all who took part....

10A Swiss Pairs for 2025

Corrections"

Thanks to all for making it a great day of bridge
Apologies to those who missed the start of the Rugby !

50 pairs took part in this years 10A Swiss which was 8 pairs more than last year - well done YOU !
Winners were Blair and Liz Fisher from Hamilton who despite losing one round of 7 led the event from the first round to the last - Congratulations.....

Thanks to AFT Pharmaceuticals and Irenee Stewart for being our sponsor for the day and presenting the prizes. With these days of rising costs, sponsors can make the difference in having a successful event versus running at a loss so thank you for all the help.....

Do take care as Covid still lurks as shown with the late withdrawal of a pair - we hope to see you all back at Hamilton's Labour Weekend Congress

Updates to HCBC Constitution to meet Incorporated Societies Act 2022

The

The SGM to approve the new 2025 Version of the Constitution was held at the Club-rooms on the morning of 15 August with a quorum of twice the required size where the new Constitution Version V4.1g was passed unanimously.

The next step in the replacement is to seek approval from the Registrar of the Incorporated Society for the new version

Incorporated Society updates

The Hamilton Contract Bridge Club Inc. is an Incorporated Society/club operating under the 1908 Incorporated Society Act. In 2022 the Government released a new version of the Act which comes into effect at the end of April 2026. If the Hamilton Club wishes to maintain its incorporated society status it is required to update the Club's Constitution to reflect the rules in the new Act. The Club decided back in 2023 that it wished to remain Incorporated so these changes started back then when the IRD required us to add clauses to the then current constitution so the opportunity was taken to make a start on the constitution the club would require. That update has been used as a starting point for the latest release which adds the remaining features required.

Click READ MORE below to read the proposed Constitution and check out reasons for the changes

Craigs 2025 8B Tournament

Congratulations to the Winners of the 2025 Craigs 8B Pairs

First up - The club says many thanks to Craigs Investments for its continued

support for the running of this event

Also from Craigs we met for the first time Codi who came along to present the prizes - Chantal who has done this

task for a number of years has moved to the Sunshine Coast

Numbers were a little disappointing this year due to an issue with the flyers -

advertising the product is everything !

Thanks to all who played and helped making it nice day....
