Hamilton 2025 Restricted Pairs

Hamilton, 6th April the Club hosted the 2025 Restricted Pairs. Great improvement in numbers with a 100% increase over last year with 42 pairs. Bridge was not too bad either !! Open - Intermediate combinations (26prs) dominated the competition followed by Intermediate - Intermediate (11prs) with just enough Junior - Junior pairs to warrant a prize.
Field was mostly Waikato or Bay of Plenty players with a smattering from Auckland and 2 pairs from from New Plymouth who maybe got lost leaving town ?
Thanks all for coming and making a great day of bridge.....

Hamilton 2025 Intermediate and Junior Pairs

Saturday, 15th was a great day of bridge at the Hamilton Intermediate and Junior Pairs. Great field for the Intermediate Pairs with 22 tables with players from north of Auckland, down to New Plymouth and across on the East Coast from Thames down to Te Puke. The juniors event wasn't as well represented with just 10 tables from Franklin to Tauranga but one very very keen player traveled all the way from Asburton ! Was also very nice to see the majority stayed for the prize giving having best dent in the clubs bar stock for a quite a period !

The Intermediate Pairs was the second round of 8 of the Waikato Bay Intermediate League with current standings after two rounds can be found here . The Junior Pairs was the first round of the Junior League with the next being at Cambridge on 29 March

Thank you all for making for a great day
Happy Bridge.......

Joan

The Hamilton Bridge Club acknowledges the passing of Long Time and Life Member Joan Egger and extends sympathy to her family and friends

Joan sadly passed away on Tuesday evening after a returning illness.
Having joined the Bridge Club in 1990, Joan was until recently in the top two or three players in the Club when the numbers for sessions played were totaled up at years end - Joan enjoyed her bridge !

The Bridge Club also benefited from Joan's time at the Club as she held a number of
management roles in the Club over those years -
♥  President , ♥  Vice President , ♥  Committee Member , ♥  Scorer , ♥  Partner Steward , ♥  Dealer , ♥  Bar custodian

Then, in 2020 Joan joined a very select group of 16 other past and present members when the members of the Club voted her as a Life Member of the Hamilton Bridge Club - a very popular addition to the Club's Life Members.

In addition to the above "more formal positions" Joan has also been constantly involved in many other aspects of the organisation of the Hamilton Bridge Club such as working in the kitchen at tournaments over many years, billeting players from out of town attending our tournaments and generally assisting at tournaments, helping where ever she is needed.

Her last game of bridge came in early October with a deserved 5th placing in a session
of Friday morning bridge - Joan will be greatly missed.....
